For U.S. state and local governments the DOJ rule generally requires web content, documents included, to meet WCAG 2.1 AA, and permits separate conforming alternate versions only in limited circumstances. Can I try DocAccessible without a credit card?
Yes. The Free plan includes three documents each month, WCAG scoring, hosted accessible HTML, and public or unlisted share links. No card is required.
What accessibility standards do you check?
Every document receives automated checks mapped to WCAG 2.2 AA, covering structure, images, headings, tables, landmarks, language, and link text. The generated PDF is aligned to PDF/UA, not certified for conformance. Important or layout-critical documents still require manual validation and may need expert PDF remediation.
What is the difference between hosted HTML and a tagged PDF?
Hosted HTML is responsive, fast to publish, easy to edit, and generally gives assistive technology a more reliable reading experience. The automated tagged PDF rebuilds the same content for offline use and may change the original layout or pagination. Preserving the exact source-PDF appearance requires manual remediation; DocAccessible agency work is $5 per page for projects of 501 pages or more.
Can my team edit the result?
Yes. The browser editor lets you adjust headings, alt text, reading order, captions, and table structure. Saving runs the accessibility checks again so you can see what changed.
