Every PDF, made accessible.

Upload a document. We extract structure, write alt text, score it against WCAG 2.2 AA, and publish a hosted accessible page in minutes. A fully tagged, PDF/UA-aligned file follows after expert remediation.

How it works

Three steps. Then you pick the output.

Every upload is remediated the same way. You ship what fits how people will use the document: a tagged PDF, a hosted accessible HTML page, or both together.

01

Upload once

PDF or DOCX. We extract real structure: headings, lists, tables, images, not just raw text.

02

Automatic remediation

Alt text, heading levels, reading order, landmarks, and a WCAG 2.2 AA score with a prioritized issue list.

03

Pick the output

Publish the hosted accessible HTML page in minutes. Request a fully tagged PDF/UA file when you need one; expert remediation lands it back in your hands.

Two paths, one remediation

A hosted accessible page, a tagged PDF, or both.

Every upload publishes a hosted accessible HTML page in minutes: it loads faster than a PDF, works on every device, is easier for screen readers, and shows up in search. A fully PDF/UA-aligned tagged PDF follows after expert remediation, for cases where the document has to stay a PDF. Ship whichever fits, or ship both. Read the decision guide.

Path A · Tagged PDF

Tagged PDF

Keep the PDF format. Make it accessible.

A PDF/UA-aligned file with a real tag tree: headings, reading order, alt text, table structure, language, and metadata. Built after expert remediation, so it takes longer than the hosted page but the original layout, pagination, and signatures stay intact.

Best for
  • Forms, contracts, policies you sign or archive
  • Official records that must stay a PDF
  • Documents downloaded and read offline
  • Existing PDF libraries you don't want to rewrite
Skip if
  • The content changes often
  • Users mostly read it on phones
  • You already maintain a web version
Path B · Hosted HTML

Content alternative (hosted HTML)

The better reading experience for public-facing content.

A hosted, editable, responsive HTML page at a URL you control. Faster for users, friendlier to assistive technology, indexable by search engines, and easy to keep in sync. This is the Section 508 and ADA Title II “conforming alternate version”, published as a first-class deliverable.

Best for
  • Loads in milliseconds, not seconds, on any device
  • Reflows cleanly on phones, tablets, and desktops
  • Ranks in search so readers actually find the content
  • Screen readers navigate semantic HTML more reliably than any PDF
  • Edit in the browser and republish instantly, no re-upload
  • Rescues badly structured or scanned PDFs that can't be cleanly tagged
Skip if
  • The PDF is the legal record of truth
  • Content is confidential or internal-only
  • Exact pagination or print layout matters
Why DocAccessible

Built for the deadline. Built to stick around.

ADA Title II requires most public-sector web content, including PDFs, to meet WCAG 2.1 AA. The DOJ extended the deadline to April 26, 2027 for 50k+ entities (April 26, 2028 for smaller ones). DocAccessible gets you there in minutes, not months, without throwing away the documents you already have.

  • AI-assisted alt text, editable in the browser
  • Clean heading hierarchy, fixable block by block
  • Real URL per doc, share as public or unlisted
  • WCAG 2.2 AA score + prioritized issue list

We remediated 112 policy PDFs in an afternoon. The hosted HTML pages replaced three tools we were stitching together.

FAQ

Common questions.

If your question is not here, the guides probably answer it. If not, email contact@docaccessible.com.

Do I need a credit card to start?
No. The Free plan covers three documents per month with no card required.
Does this comply with WCAG 2.2 AA?
Yes. We score every document against the WCAG 2.2 AA rule set and produce a prioritized issue list you can fix in the browser.
Can I share a remediated document publicly?
Every document gets a hosted URL at /d/your-slug. You can publish it publicly, share an unlisted link, or issue a password-gated share token.
Do you work with scanned PDFs?
Scanned PDFs need OCR first. We will surface any pages that lack extractable text so you can re-route them through an OCR step, then re-upload.

The deadline moved to April 26, 2027.
Use the year well.
